It is the mission of the Northmont High School Instructional Media Center (IMC) to empower students to be independent thinkers, active readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information by creating a positive learning environment that provides access to information and technology and maintains an updated, diverse collection that supports curricular needs and students' interests.
The IMC’s collection includes books, print periodicals, audio books, videos, and subscriptions to online research databases containing thousands of magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias, scholarly journals, primary documents, and books. Students at Northmont Senior High School can access both the online catalog and the research databases from any computer on or off campus.
The IMC includes a research area and two Mac labs for individual and class use. Teachers may schedule their classes for the IMC, IMC Mac Lab, or Mac Lab. Please visit the Northmont High School Technology Booking System to schedule a class. Teachers should refer to their staff handbooks for more specific IMC policies for staff. The IMC staff does their best to ensure that all students have access to IMC resources as needed.
The librarian/media specialist partners with fellow faculty members to teach 21st century literacy skills in conjunction with academic content standards. The IMC staff is available to assist students with information, technology, and media inquiries and readers advisory.
