A Note From Northmont's New Superintendent

As the new Northmont superintendent, I look forward to leading and serving our students, parents, staff, and community.  Northmont has now been ranked excellent for seven consecutive years and it is my goal to work collaboratively in taking Northmont to the next level of excellence.    Northmont’s accomplishments are extensive and noteworthy; however, a unified effort is needed for us to meet future challenges so we may continue to be an excellent school district.

I was born and raised in Canton, Ohio.  I received my B.A. and Master degrees from Miami University.  Before coming to Northmont, I was the Superintendent of Franklin City Schools and have been an administrator in public education for the past fourteen years.  My most memorable accomplishments while at Franklin was the creation of the early childhood center and district latchkey program, the development of a district strategic plan, a successful district-wide building renovation project including major technology upgrades, the partnership with Atrium Medical Center that resulted in a new stadium, and for the first time being ranked as excellent by the State of Ohio.

My wife of 27 years, Paula, has been an educational aide the past ten years working with special needs students.  We have three wonderful daughters.  Courtney our oldest also works with special needs students and is working towards her master degree in special education at Xavier University.  This fall, our daughter Taylor will be finishing her degree in strategic communications at the University of Kentucky.  And, Kelsey, the baby of the family, is a junior and plays volleyball at Franklin.

I have already spent many days in the Northmont community and our school district visiting each school and many of our classrooms in order to personally get to know and build positive relationships with our students, parents, staff, and community.  You will find that I will be visible and easily accessible, which I believe is extremely important.  I look forward to working with you as we continue our journey to provide an excellent education so all our students will have the opportunity to achieve to their fullest potential.  I encourage your thoughts, ideas, and questions, and welcome you to contact me at superintendent@northmontschools.com

I am very excited to be a Thunderbolt.

OneCallNow You may have received a phone call from the school district last year as it tested it's first message with the OneCallNow, automated messaging system. The contact phone numbers parents and guardians supply to their children's schools are used to populate the OneCallNow system. School administrators, principals, coaches, and more can send a message to all applicable phone numbers by dialing a single number and leaving one message. How will this impact you? If you have a child in the Northmont district, you may receive a call via the OneCallNow system.
For example, if the school district closes due to inclement weather, you will receive a phone call from the Superintendent or his designee announcing the closing. No more waiting for the scrolling message to appear on the local TV station. Let's assume a single building was closed for a broken water pipe, for example, only parents who have children in that school would be contacted. If you're wondering when the bus will return from an out-of-town extra-curricular activity, the activity's coach/director could call to let you know when the group was, for example, thirty minutes from arriving. This powerful communication system is another way the Northmont School District is working to support its parents, students, and community.

Things To Know

1. The system calls phone numbers based on what the information provided to the district or individual school buildings by parents and guardians. If you have not updated your information recently, or if you think your information is inaccurate, please contact your child's school to update the information.

2. The system can call multiple numbers. You may wish to include your home phone, cell phone, work phone or any combination of the same.

3. If you have received a call and your child does not attend Northmont, you may have been issued a phone number that once was used by someone who had or has a child in the Northmont district. You can contact OneCallNow to have your phone number removed from the calling list.

4. If you wish to opt out of the system, you can do so by contacting OneCallNow. A phone number is provided at the end of each message.

5. If you have caller ID, your phone will show Northmont City Schools as the caller.
