Northwood students have snacks at lunch that are marked best choice, choose sometimes and choose rarely. The snack items are labled such on the shelf in the cafeteria line. Students are encouraged to make the best nutritional choices. At Northwood Students are encouraged to bring healthy lunches , snacks and celebration treats that are low in fat, sugar and sodium.

Suggestions for healthy snacks for celebrations:
•· Grapes, Bananas, and other fruits
•· Popcorn, pretzels, Goldfish
•· Fruit Snacks, fruit cups, applesauce, jello snacks
•· Granola Bars, pudding cups, Rice Krispie Treats
•· Popsicles (sugar-free), low fat frozen yogurt, or low fat ice cream

For celebrations, please do not send foods such as:
•· Cakes or cupcakes (even for Birthdays or celebrations)
•· Potato Chips that are high in fats
•· Cookies high in sugar
•· Doughnuts or other pastries
•· Candy, chocolates
•· Ice Cream

We also ask that you avoid sending snacks that may contain peanuts, peanut butter, and other common allergens. We appreciate your willingness to support our commitment to the EAT SMART initiative. Working together, we can improve the lifelong wellness practices of our children.
