Good afternoon families,

I hope you and your family had a restful break!  We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we’ve navigated various obstacles!  Below are a few reminders as we begin the 3rd quarter.

  1. Face to Face students will begin the 3rd quarter with the same schedule/expectations as they did during the 2nd quarter.

  2. This is just a reminder, that all students throughout the district will be working remotely from Tuesday, January 5th - Friday, January 8th.

  3. When we begin school on January 5th, your student will begin their 3rd rotation in explorations and could possibly start a new semester class (check your student’s schedule to confirm).

  4. During the 3rd quarter, we will no longer have a set schedule after school for remote learners.   Teachers will be available and logged into open Google meets Monday - Wednesday from 2:00-3:00 and 2:00-2:30 on Thursday for our remote learners.  While the focus of this time will be for our remote learners any student with questions can jump into a meet with their teachers.

  5. We will continue to use the Friday schedules we used for all students 2nd quarter

  6. Please follow your teacher’s instructions on Canvas and make sure your student submits their attendance check-in.

  7. Click this link to watch a short video about Progress book.  Progress Book Help/Refresher

Thanks,
Jarrod

Good morning families,
We hope that you and your student have started to get into a groove with remote learning and that things have gotten easier for you.  If your student is having trouble please have them reach out to their teacher or one of the principals for assistance.  We want to ensure that everyone understands and is able to navigate things smoothly.  Below are a few reminders we'd like to share with you.

Please only check ProgressBook when checking your student's grades.  There have been some issues with Canvas and ProgressBook showing different grades for students.  ProgressBook will show the most up to date and accurate grades.

Beginning on Monday, September 21st our late work policy will be put into place. 10% will be deducted for assignments received 1 day late; 20% will be deducted for assignments received 2 days late; 30% will be deducted for assignments received 3 days late; 40% will be deducted for assignments received 4 days late; 50% will be deducted for assignments received 5 days late; after 5 days a 0 will be recorded.  Please continue to communicate with your student's teachers should issues arise.

Flex Wednesday Q/A

Please help your student remember to fill out their daily attendance check-in.  Many students have set an alarm each day to remind themselves to fill it out.

Enjoy your weekend,
Jarrod

Subject: A message about FastBridge screenings

The Northmont City School System believes in providing the highest quality of education for every student. To meet this goal, we have a multi-tiered approach to instruction. This process, known nationally as MTSS, gained attention when federal law established these practices as an approach to identify and provide early intervention to struggling students. As part of this process, all students are screened in reading, math, and social/emotional/behavior skills three times a year. This process, known within an MTSS framework, is called universal screening. Northmont City Schools is using FastBridge Learning to screen students in grades K-10.

We are committed to helping all students succeed. Therefore, we ask for your support in implementing this approach to meet the academic and behavioral needs of your child along with all students in our school. For the fall screening session, this will be done remotely.

It is extremely important that the assessment be completed by your child without your assistance for item answers. You will be allowed to answer questions about the computer equipment or when to stop and start only. Any assistance by you on test items will affect the score and make the results invalid. We appreciate your cooperation. We look forward to sharing additional information as we progress through the school year.

As always, do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns.
