Last Food Distribution 5-13-2020

Hello Northmont Community this is Superintendent Tony Thomas.

Tomorrow is the district’s final food distribution for the year.  We will begin at 7:30 a.m. and please be advised we will conclude at 8:45 a.m. as we will begin iPad drop off at the high school at 9:00.  To reiterate, the food distribution is on Thursday at the high school and will be from 7:30-8:45 a.m.

Information continues to be communicated from the buildings so please stay up-to-date on the latest communiques by checking your email as well as your student’s email from the district.  The weather has played a role in changes to iPad pick-ups and all changes have been sent out to parents by One Call or email.

Thank you to our parents for reading the large amount of communications that have gone out during the pandemic. You have been great partners during this unprecedented time.

Take care

Food Distribution, End of Year,  Appreciation 5-6-2020

Hello Northmont community this is Superintendent Tony Thomas

Northmont will conduct a food distribution tomorrow in front of the high school from 7:30-9:00 a.m.  We look forward to seeing everyone and we hope this service has been helpful during these trying times.

Parents, I invite you to check your emails regarding upcoming events that include, but are not limited to, iPad turn in, paying fees, and getting caps and gowns for our seniors.  Each building has slightly different information so be sure to know the dates and times of events at the building or buildings your child attends.

Thank you for taking the time to stay up-to-date as we have worked hard to communicate what we know as soon as we know it.

Also thank you to our principals, teachers, nurses, and bus drivers as each group had a dedicated appreciation day in their honor this week.

Take care and be kind.

Food Distribution, End of Year, and Graduation 4-29-2020

Hello this is Superintendent Tony Thomas.

I have three items to share.

1) The food distribution will take place Thursday at the high school from 7:30-9:00 am.  The procedure will remain the same as last week.

2) A great deal of communication was sent out from the buildings yesterday as we prepare for the month of May and the end of the school year.  Please check the district and building websites and your email for the updated information.

3) I know many are anxious about knowing the plan for graduation.  Rest assured we have submitted our plan to Public Health - Dayton and Montgomery County and have been in contact with other districts to see what has not been approved.  We are still awaiting approval of our plan.  The moment we have a plan approved that will honor our students to the greatest extent possible we will share the plan with you. There has been a great deal of conflicting information shared by various agencies in Ohio. We want to be sure the plan we communicate is approved so last minute changes are not necessary.

Thank you for your patience and take care.

Extended Closure Date 4-21-2020

Hello this is Superintendent Tony Thomas

As I am sure you have heard the Governor closed schools for the remainder of this school year.  We certainly understand the need to promote safety, but are also saddened as we miss our students.  We will continue to offer remote learning opportunities for the remainder of the school year.

A special message to our seniors.  We are planning alternatives to traditional ceremonies.  We will do our best to honor the class of 2020. We are so proud of our soon to be graduates and we want to make this a special spring despite the circumstances.

More information will follow to  students and parents of all grade levels over the next few weeks.  Each building has its own needs so most of the details will flow from the building where the student attends.

This is a reminder we will conduct our food distribution at the high school again this Thursday from 7:30-9:00 a.m.

Please take care of yourself and find ways to be kind...Go Bolts

This is Superintendent Tony Thomas.  As I am sure you have heard, the Governor has extended school closures across the state through May 1, 2020.  This means Northmont will continue to offer remote learning to our students. Monday, April 6th, is a professional development day for our staff.  We will still have professional development for our staff remotely, meaning students will begin receiving new assignments on April 7th. All of our extracurricular activities on the school calendar will not take place because of the state school closure order.  We will reassess on May 1, 2020 to decide if any of the events will be rescheduled based on guidance from the state and federal governments.

Food Delivery Communication 3-16-2020

Northmont City Schools will deliver food for students Friday March 20, Tuesday March 24, and Thursday March 26 using transportation routes. We will reassess after Spring Break based on the Governor’s decisions going forward.

Morning bus routes will run at their normal times and food will be delivered to students at those bus stops. The child must be present to receive pre-packaged breakfast and lunch meals prepared by Northmont Food Service. Bus stop arrival times for students may fluctuate by 15 minutes of the assigned stop time.

For students who normally walk, are driven to school OR miss the bus stop delivery, food will be distributed outside the student’s assigned school building for 30 minutes during normal morning drop off times on March 20, 24 and 26th.  Thank you for your continued patience as we work through this scenario.

Elementary OneCallNow Message 3/13/2020 (This message is adapted per building, but the pertinent information is the same:

Good afternoon!

All students will be coming home today with their Ipad and charger.  Teachers will be providing lessons starting Wednesday, March 18 and will be available for questions/communication regarding the online lessons during the normal school hours and throughout the two week period prior to spring break.  Students may complete this work online during times that work best for the family’s schedule, but each assignment posted on Google Classroom will be given a due date. Both Class Dojo and Google Classroom will be our main forms of communication, please plan to check it regularly.  If you do not have a Class Dojo account set up, an informational sheet will be coming home with your child today to guide you.  Again, two way communication is going to be very important to make this time go as smoothly as possible.  Please monitor both Google Classroom and Class Dojo. This is going to be a learning process for all of us.  We hope you stay healthy and take advantage of the extra family time with your loved ones.
